Grapevines are planted along the prepared stone terraces facing south-west slopes. Throughout the day, stones accumulate and retain heat from the sun to give it back at night. This is how grapes get maximum amount of sugar in them.

Witnesses of a New Era
It is difficult to imagine, but the winemaking tradition in this region dates back to the 3rd century B.C. This is evidenced by amphorae and jugs found during various archaeological excavations. For centuries, viticulture was pretty well developed there and played a significant role in the life of the population. However, during the numerous wars in the period from 15th to 19th century, and especially the Turkish invasion, growing grapevines and wine production has been significantly reduced and completely abandoned in some areas. Only in the 19th – 20th centuries, this branch of agriculture got a chance to revive and bloom.
Today, the cultivated soil and the Lipovac vineyards are the best witnesses of a new era.
